Safety Catchers
Prevent accidents caused by lifted loads or tools
Safety Brakes
Reliable static holding against gravity and use as emergency brake. For high safety on vertical and slant bed axes.
Safety Locks
For safe holding of lifted loads. Only a short distance is necessary to build up the holding force.
Locking Units
Block movements in both directions along the rod. As a mechanical lock against external forces.
PowerStroke
The first clamping unit in the world with integrated short stroke cylinder. For high closing pressure at the end of a long stroke.
Special Solutions
More than 3.000 clamping units were realised by SITEMA as special solutions and individual adaptations.
Safety Catchers
Safety Catchers are used where personal protection and accident prevention must be provided against failure of lifting members in an area where loads or tools are raised. Protection, for example, if a hydraulic or pneumatic pressure system fails, or if a rope, chain, belt, or toothed drive breaks.
The SITEMA Safety Catcher will prevent the load from crashing down at any position of ascent; ratchless, mechanically safe and absolutely reliable. Because of its "self-intensifying clamp" operating principle, a safety level is achieved that is unsurpassed by any technological alternative.
Safety Brakes
The SITEMA Safety Brake type KSP is designed to hold a vertical moved mass in one direction (against gravity). The holding is done on a round shaft. This could be an already existing cylinder rod or a separate rod. The Safety Catcher can also be used to catch the falling load in case of an emergency-stop. The holding force is relatively big in one direction (downwards) and in the other direction (upwards) relatively small.
Safety brakes are already used in the following applications
- vertical or diagonal machine tool axes
- vertical axes of loaders
Safety Locks
Safety Locks similar to Safety Catchers and Safety Brakes are used against failure of lifting members. But in contrast to those they are not suitable to decelerate masses or to dissipate kinetic energy. On the other hand, the rod displacement to build up the holding force is very small, so that this units can be used for a approximitive positioning tasks as well. Furthermore this design principle allows compact solutions even for small rod sizes (smaller than for Safety Catchers). In the field of pneumatic clamping devices the Safety Locks are providing the absolutely highest holding forces in relation to housing dimensions.
Locking Units
Locking units are capable of retaining forces in both axial directions. They are used in a wide variety of machines. In most versions the clamping is spring actuated, and hydraulic or pneumatic pressure is required to release it. Shaft diameters range from 10 to 250 mm. The respective holding forces vary from 0.1 to 1000 kN, depending on style and customer requirements.
If the device is used as a restraint device and emergency brake in machine tools, a special version KFHW is available. For this reason, all the external parts and sealing surfaces are made of stainless steel.
Mould Closing Device SITEMA-PowerStroke
The Mould Closing Device SITEMA PowerStroke is a clamping unit with integrated short stroke cylinder and designed to hold and pull a rod in one direction. It can be used in all applications where high forces are required on short strokes.
The SITEMA PowerStroke is used e.g. in hydroforming presses to close the mould and apply the pressing force or in die cast machines to close the mould and apply the closing force.
With one unit, forces up to 200 tons are possible on a stroke of 20 mm. The force is proportional to the applied closing pressure, which can be hydraulic (series FSK) or pneumatic (series FSKP).
